Why Jewelry is the Best Valentine's Day Gift

Whether you celebrate Valentine's Day with a significant other or spend the day denying that it's a real holiday, it's a day you're going to want to make yourself feel special and look your best.

Don't deny it. Valentine's Day happens whether you like it or not, and it's the best time to show your affection - whether it's to someone special, or yourself!

Jewelry is the best way to do just that (and it's not just because we love jewelry and that's all we talk about).

Here's Why:

1) No calories.

Just when you're starting to get rid of those extra holiday pounds, your special someone hands you a two-pound, heart-shaped box of delicious sugar and fat. What you're really being gifted is two more hours on the treadmill. Appreciate the thought, honey, but, were you really thinking?

2) Jewelry has staying power.

Flowers will fade, but jewelry can last forever!  You'll remember the feeling you got when you received your jewelry each time you wear your jewelry, year after year.

If we were receiving a bouquet, we'd rather it be made of flower brooches. ;)

3) You can say a lot without saying a word.

Not good with words?  Especially on special occasions?  A flimsy card just doesn't have that same oomph.  That's why we suggest you turn to jewelry.

4) It's easier to surprise someone with.
Putting a box of chocolates in your pocket while you have dinner will only make you very uncomfortable, and when you pull them out, they'll be all melt-y! SURPRISE!

5) It'll fit.

6) Perfume stinks.
Unless you know their favorite scent, investing hundreds into a pretty bottle can be treacherous. Can you afford to make that gamble?

Everybody deserves a little something to make them feel special and nothing shows the world how that special someone shines better than some extra sparkle.

So this Valentine's Day, as you search for gifts to treat the special people in your life (and that includes yourself!) we hope you make the right choice!

Rhumba! Item of the Week - Festoon Necklace Set

Even though we love every piece of jewelry for sale on Rhumba! Jewelry, every so often we like to showcase one of our 6,000+ items, and tell you why we love it so much.

This week we feature this fabulously fashion-forward item:

Rhinestone Multi-chain Tassel Festoon Necklace Set

What it is: A festoon necklace set in metallic black, gray and hematite color rhinestones in patinated brass colored metal.  This glorious necklace set is a quality, contemporary take on the Victorian festoon necklace with its draped chains, medallions of darkly shaded rhinestones and dangling central tassel.
The earrings match the brooch decoration, mirroring the same style and dark rhinestone sparkle.

Why we love it: I really feel like this necklace is a perfect example of what's next in fashionable statement accessories.  It blends current trends of mixed metals, brooch-like decorations gathering pieces of necklaces, and fringe (with the tassel) - but presents them all in a new way.  Or rather, a sort of retro way, since the festoon style has been around for over a century, and have been a bold accessory since the Queen of England had the style commissioned.  Wear the necklace and earrings together for a bold and extra bling-y look, or wear them separately with any of your favorite clothes. The piece'
s sparkly neutral rhinestones make them both easy to pair with anything in your closet.  For real, you're going to see these necklaces in next year's fashion magazines, I'm sure.

Rhumba! Item of the Week - Flower Stretch Ring

Even though we love every piece of jewelry for sale on Rhumba! Jewelry, every so often we like to showcase one of our 6,000+ items, and tell you why we love it so much.

This week we feature this fun & flirty item:

Large Flower Artisan Look Flower Stretch Ring

What it isLarge flower stretch ring in matte silver tone metal with a cross-hatched texture that is accented with black. The central part of the ring features a cluster of icy clear rhinestones amid raised faceted silver tone round shapes.

Why we love it: It's big, but not too glitzy. The faceted silver tone round shapes in the center keep the central rhinestones from getting too "in-your-face" with glitter. It's perfect for the times you want to make a statement while wearing something casual. We love the artisan look of the created by the crosshatch design; it kind of emulates the plaid trend that's so hot right now.  In fact, it would make a great feminine accent to your favorite plaid flannel shirt. :)

Rhumba! Item of the Week

Even though we love every piece of jewelry for sale on Rhumba! Jewelry, every so often we like to showcase one of our 6,000+ items, and tell you why we love it so much.

This week we feature:
Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon Lapel Pin

I was a caregiver to my mother during her bout with cancer, and I know first-hand the toll the disease can take on its victim and their loved ones. Although breast cancer awareness month is ending, there's no reason not to show your support all year long.

Here are some important sites to visit to join the fight against cancer:

Click-to-donate does not ask for money, only for the push of a button. The site donates the proceeds they receive from your click-throughs to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The Breast Cancer Site also receives sponsorship money; you can donate for free with the click of a button. The site donates the proceeds they receive from your click-throughs to provide women with free mammograms.

And don't forget to visit The American Cancer Society - dedicated to fighting all forms of cancer, and creating more birthdays.

The Cutest Rhumba! Dog - UPDATE!

This is Marissa, the Rhumba! Social Media Manager. I just want to publicly thank everyone for participating in our contest! Being a dog person, myself, I'm not surprised by the overwhelming, positive response! All your pups are cuties! Thank you all so much for participating!

Just a reminder that voting ends next week - so get your votes in and make your comments!

Please remember that you and your friends can only vote once, daily.

I have set up anonymous comments so that anyone can vote, so that neither you nor your friends need to sign up for any new accounts to leave a comment - you know how difficult it is to keep all those logins and passwords straight!

I want to sincerely thank you all for being fair to each other and abiding by our contest rules.

I've loved receiving these e-mails and viewing their pictures, but most of all, I've enjoyed hearing about your dogs' individual personalities and how much your dogs mean to you.

I'm looking forward to declaring a winner! Good luck to all!

I couldn't help myself, I had to post this "maltichon" puppy picture I found when I googled "cute puppy"

Best,
Marissa
